The Waverly Carbon / Spanish Pyrolysis Joint Venture

Waverly Carbon and a leading Spanish pyrolysis operator are working towards a joint venture to establish integrated pyrolysis and recovered carbon black (rCB) operations — a one-stop solution for chemical tyre recycling.

Waverly Carbon’s rCB facility is expected to be installed at their 4,000 m² site in Northern Spain, operating alongside their existing pyrolysis plant, with initial production targeted for Q1 2027. The site currently has a processing capacity of 5,500 tonnes of end-of-life tyres (ELT) per annum, with plans to scale to 15,000 tonnes in 2027 through the addition of new pyrolysis lines and increased rCB capacity. To support further growth, additional sites across Spain are under assessment for future expansion, together with access to significant ELT feedstock volumes through established sector relationships.

Our partner is Spain’s leading tyre pyrolysis operator, utilising a patented continuous auger reactor to produce consistent, homogeneous pyrolysis char — the ideal feedstock for rCB production. Together, the two businesses bring complementary technologies, experienced management teams, and a proven history of collaboration.

The joint venture will leverage its EU presence to access a broad market free from cross-border regulatory barriers. rCB is distributed through Waverly Carbon’s European network to tyre manufacturers and customers in the rubber, plastics, inks, and coatings sectors, while tyre pyrolysis oil (TPO) is pre-sold to leading oil groups.
