Technology and Quality
Waverly Carbon has developed a proprietary, downstream production line to produce high-quality recovered Carbon Black (rCB) from end-of-life tyre pyrolysis char. The system uses a multi-stage process to convert the char, employing OEM equipment for the key milling, pelletising and drying processes. In addition to these core processes, the solution includes several interlinked processing steps that change the material’s state as it moves through the plant.
These include, but are not limited to:
- Raw material storage
- Initial size reduction
- Screening of magnetic contaminants
- Pelletising
- Drying
- Screening
- Packaging
Three key operating philosophies underpin our operations:
- Zero waste
- Minimisation of headcount through automation
- Consistency of end product output quality and production rate
Quality Assurance and Laboratory Testing
We maintain a strong quality control (QC) sampling and monitoring process to ensure a consistently high-quality final product. To enable consistent and high quality production, we have invested significantly in laboratory testing equipment, ensuring customers to meet their technical requirements. Our expert lab technicians conduct ASTM D36 testing, across four key testing regimes:
- material testing at source to agreed specification;
- incoming raw material analysis;
- in-line testing; and
- finished product quality control.
Comprehensive analytical capabilities with real-time monitoring, rigorous testing protocols, certifications, and consistency standards ensure our Emerald rCB is a reliable ingredient for rubber, plastics inks and coatings sectors.
